The Cannaregio district is home to the friendly Ca' San Marcuola inn nestled in Venice's peaceful "calli", less than fifteen minutes from St. Mark's Square and Rialto; in a district full of restaurants, typical shops and enchanting "campi" serving Venice's traditional cocktail in the evenings: the spritz.

The Ca' San Marcuola inn provides easy access to authentic Venice, off the beaten track, including the fondamenta della Misericordia, San Marcuola church and Jewish Ghetto whose atmosphere is elsewhere impossible to find: take an afternoon to visit these sites, you won't regret it.

Ten meters separate the Ca' San Marcuola Inn's door from the ACTV ferry dock. Take line 1 towards Rialto to discover the charm of the palazzos overlooking the Grand Canal, Venice's most famous waterway. You can admire the magnificent Ca' d’Oro, the Renaissance Ca' Vendramin (home to the Casino, just 50 meters away) and, before St. Mark's basin, the a stunning contours of the Basilica della Salute.

Rialto. One of the landmarks of Venice, its unique architecture is renown throughout the world. Home to the city's most popular market and lively hot spots that fill up just after sundown, it is a must on your stay in Venice.

St. Mark's. After visiting the ancient jewelry shops in Rialto, wander down the Mercerie with its fashion boutiques, jewelry stores and shops of all kinds to beautiful St. Mark's Square. Enclosed by the Procuratie arcades, this enchanting parlor made of Istrian stone is home to the Byzantine mosaics of the sumptuous St. Mark's Basilica, the famous bell tower, Gothic architecture and the Doge Palace's astonishing decorated stairs. Ghetto. The oldest and best preserved Jewish ghetto in Europe is in Venice, just a few steps away from the Ca' San Marcuola inn. Off the beaten track, the ghetto is marked by its tall houses and by the Jewish Museum, capably concentrating the history of Venice's Jewish community in a small area. In addition to the relics and objects dedicated to the religion and its holidays, the museum runs a guided tour of the 3 stunning synagogues next door. Some advice: if you're still in the ghetto near dinner time, try the exquisite Jewish cuisine in one of the ghetto's restaurants. Fun fact: not everyone knows that the word "ghetto" originates from Venice's ghetto. The part of the city inhabited by the Jews since the fourteenth century was originally where the ironworks were located, whose melted casts, in Italian "getto" comes from the Venetian geto or gheto.
